Workforce Development

Students will demonstrate mastery of the theories involved in group and individual counseling and will be able to apply those theories to substance use disorders. They will be familiar with the research in both areas and be able to critically analyze various types of group process. Students will develop entry level interviewing skills appropriate for work in the addicitions field. Students will learn about the therapeutic relationship, non-verbal and verbal communication, and multicultural interviewing.  A list of textbooks will be provided to the student upon registration.  Textbook costs are not included in the price of the course and will need to be purchased separately.
