Workforce Development

Students will examine the physical and pharmacological effects resulting from the use and abuse of alcohol and other substances. Topics include alcohol use and abuse, alcoholism, the disease concept, recent research theories about alcoholism and other substances, counseling skills, treatment plans, and other relevant social issues.  The course assumes a working knowledge of alcoholism and other addictions.  This course requires two textbooks not included in cost of the course and must be purchased separately by the student.  A list of textbooks will be provided to the student upon registration.
