Module I Electrical Foundations: This 10-week, 60-hour module focuses on theory and practical application of electrical concepts including AC/DC Circuits, Multimeters, Electrical Safety, Ohm’s Law, Wire Management, and Series/Parallel Circuits. Students will learn to draw, construct, and troubleshoot electrical circuits, relays, and switches.

This is the first of a two module program.  A link to register for the second module, also $1,800.00, will be provided upon successful completion of Module I.

This session will review calculating rate of filtration and backwashing. It includes the examination of filter media efficiency to meet the filter turbidity rule and cleaning filter media as well as selecting and applying chemicals.

This session will review treatment and distribution operations for flows, pressure, storage capacity, operations and maintaining drinking water quality.

De-Escalation in Practice: Using Assertive Language and Presence to Promote Calm In emotionally charged situations, how we show up matters just as much as what we say. This interactive workshop focuses on the practical side of de-escalation by strengthening your emotional intelligence, refining your language choices, and using non-verbal presence to promote calm. Through discussion, structured practice, and guided reflection, you’ll gain tools to respond with clarity and confidence when tension runs high.

Topics covered in this course include operator qualifications and responsibilities, water quality control, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, pH and alkalinity adjustment, iron and manganese removal, water softening and chlorination, bacteriological laboratory techniques, emergency planning, safety, hydraulics and pumps, process calculations and distribution system operation and maintenance.

This five-day course is designed to meet the requirements of NYS Sanitary Code Part 5 relative to the training required to receive New York State Water Treatment Operator's certification. This training will coincide with the first half of the Grade A class.

This course is designed for operators of distribution systems serving greater than 1,000 people. Topics include pressure zones, booster stations, storage tanks, fire protection and disinfection.
